SGIF Empowerment

The cost of constantly feeding and covering the expense of the needy is a fit no organisation can fully satisfy. The most we can do is therefore, empower those in need with knowledge, finance and moral support to earn a living.

Or at most, create employment scheme that will help them earn a revenue and also possible investment scheme to help grow their earning.

Meet Rolantine, Majolie and Rashidatu. IDPs from the conflict hit Anglophone regions of Cameroon.

Life has not been easy for my family and myself. We barely have what to eat each passing day and it is getting tougher. We can't even secure a job.

Rolantine told SGIF Team.

She fled while pregnant for her last child. When armed men came to her house and her beaten. In fright, she fled to the central town of Bamenda and subsequently to Douala and was later joined by her husband.

Chronicles of Rolantine #IDPdiaries

Douala, Cameroons economic capital is extremely expensive and the extreme inflation levels of the country make this even worst. Running from a war torn rural area to a big city like Douala requires a whole set of different skills to survive. Most people from these rural areas live on farming and are completely foreign to French language.

Today, via our SGIF4idp training program, we are training 5 ladies which are the first badge of 10 ladies to be trained in tailoring. The first phase of their training will run for 6 months. This is to make it possible for them to at least earn a living.

After which further 6 months of more training and coaching will follow.

Sowing machine offered by SGIF and partners to trainer. In order to reduce person to machine ratio (increase practicality).

In total, 100 persons are going to be trained subsequently in other disciplines (agriculture, pastry and graphic designing).

These are easy to acquire skill with a low acquisition and startup cost.

We are looking forward to sealing a partnership deal with a USA based organisation that will ensure graduates each have a tailoring machine by the end of their program.
