Canaan visits

Updated: Nov 16, 2020

From South West region to the littoral, we are making a major move to support the Canaan orphanage in Bojongo, Douala.

As we made our way in to with things we brought, from bags of rice, salts, cooking oil and lots more, couldn’t help but notice the brightness and sharpness of most of the kids.

Its not just about visiting orphans, giving them the loving care and support they often are in need of. But also making this love and awareness contagious enough to bring many others into this.

They deserve a treat for Christmas

The world can only be healed if we pass on the love we share to others around us. By creating awareness on the existing need of these people and the urgency needed to respond to this, we become far more effective.

One thing remains very clear, it may not be possible to eradicate some of our most basic societal ills which stem from poverty by doing charitable works only. But if we collectively respond to these need by tackling poverty on a long term bases, then we stand a chance.

Team SGIF and Canaan Orphanage Manager

With about 30 kids and over 5 adults, Canaan is a lovely place to visit. We were there and we shared in their plight.

Just because you may not have "parents" doesn't put you in any disadvantage. you can be what ever you decide to be. Make use of every resource God sends your way.

Extract from the Founders speech.

With the support of good will ambassadors like the Achiri's and a few diaspora support like Mr Godwil E we made the day even more colourful than we had ever made any. As the Manager walked us around the compound we could help but see lots of ideal resources.

Labour was ever available, land was available what else did they need?

An abandoned poultry, a piggery and fishpond were some of the dead business we saw in the compound. With the right knowledge, and a little financial boost , they will barely need any external support. That was our conclusion. While that was out of our reach, it inspired us to see how best we can alleviate poverty and hunger from our communities.

That is by Empowerment and not just charitable giving.

As they day always starts with heavy lifting and last minute buying, it was worth while to give the team a little fancy treat.

As we remain committed to what we do, we will certainly be rebranding US.
